mcleod country golf club
mt. ommaney, brisbane, australia
The proposed retirement village sits at the northwest corner of the 1.63-hectare McLeod Country Golf Club site. The masterplan design responds to the site’s surroundings and its varying interfaces. The strategy was to transition the building height from the street. Townhouses line the street, leading up to taller apartment buildings. These taller buildings are set back deeply from the neighbours.
The buildings sit on a knoll, at a high point of the golf course. They follow the existing contours and nestle within the greens and tee blocks. This layout allows the 18 holes to remain unchanged with minimal impact on players. The building design minimises length with recessed breaks in the facades. It also responds to the surrounding vistas and site aspects.
Offering a total of 126x dwellings consisting of 16x townhouses and 110x independent living apartments, the vision for this development is to provide residents options for different apartment or townhouse style homes, all whilst living in quiet and tranquil suburban environment.
