home amongst the gumtrees
This unique residential development blends modern architecture with natural bushland and local heritage character.
Conceptualised as a contemporary urban sanctuary, the building was designed to coexist and be enveloped in nature.
Three apartment buildings have been carefully positioned allowing the reservation on site of a large pocket of existing blue gum forest whilst also creating a large central community garden and retaining and reusing an existing heritage home as a central community centre.
The architectural concept was based on a strong rhythm of horizontal rectilinear forms. The architecture is layered horizontally to create a visually interesting composition of simple linear forms which emulate the rock layering seen on the site.
