a new benchmark in retirement development

The Merewether Golf Club and Residences will set a new benchmark in retirement development for the Newcastle area. The brief to Marchese Partners | Life3A was to create a luxury retirement and hospitality precinct at the existing Merewether golf course.

It is now well understood that co-locating seniors living developments with registered clubs provides benefits for existing clubs to diversify their income streams and also providing residents with an enviable lifestyle, amenities and a likeminded community at their doorstep.

Two, 8 storey residential towers incorporating 148 ILA’s were set in between the existing tree lines of the golf course to help screen their scale from view whilst providing all the apartments with incredible views to the golf course.

A new clubhouse will feature every hospitality inclusion, feature a wellness centre and day spa and residents also have the exclusive use of a private dining room, cellar, and masterclass kitchen with enviable views across the 18th green.

The interiors 

With an effortless and contemporary interior style – the Merewether is the epitome of relaxed luxury.  The interiors brings in textures and finishes from the architectural design into the residences and amenity spaces to create a beautifully considered development.  The design will withstand trends and generational change. 

Understanding the many uses and routes that residents, locals and members will take was a big challenge. The interior design and special relationship planning underpins the flow of activities to ensure the optimal enjoyment of the spaces.   

We wanted to create a warm, yet breath-taking space and context, to extend the residents experience of coastal living. Veiny stones and beautiful timbers create warmth and a backdrop for residents to bring their own style to their new surroundings. The extension of spaces into the communal hub utilises the same finishes and appliances, allowing for residents to experience these spaces as an extension of their home. 

Detailing in the joinery gives a sense of luxury and a familiarity to its function. A true balance of function and form resides at the Merewether.
